Birchbox April 2014 Review:
I FINALLY received my box today (after having received notification that it was shipped on April 9th.....) and I may have cheated by peaking on the website to see what products I received. I was hoping for the popcorn that other subscribers received this month, but I was still excited to try this Kind Bar as I have been pleased with the brand in the past. This is actually the FIRST food product I have received in any of my 4 boxes and I LOVE IT! It has a unique combination of sweet and salty and is a perfect remedy for those awkward cravings. (Value $ .80)
BeeKind Body Lotion: This Gilchrist & Soames (England) product contains no parabens, phtalates, petrol-derived ingredients, mineral oil, urea, DEA, TEA, or propylene glycol and are also fragrance and dye free. I immediately tried this and loved the consistency but found the fragrance to remind me of lemon dish soap. (Value $2)
Sumita Color Contrast Eyeliner: This product was supposed to be "Color Contrast" however I received a sample in black. I think part of me was hoping I would have received the plum color to try something new yet not extreme like the lime green. As other users have stated this product is EXTREMELY soft. It is unlike any eyeliner I currently use (Dramatic/Night Out: Smashbox Limitless Eyeliner for my waterline and Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner for top and Everyday: Only Sephora's Nano Eyeliner in Pearl Beige to brighten my waterline). The Sumita is so soft that it takes little effort to apply which is great for gentle eye areas, but beware that it is hard to apply just a little of this eyeliner. I haven't found a site that lists the weight of full-size or travel-size but I estimate the value around $5.
Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant: I think Birchbox is trying to tell me something with all the exfoliants I have received these past few months. However I am not complaining as I love trying new variations. Although it has salicylic acid, it is fragrance free and dye free. (Value $6)
Color Club Gala's Gems Collection in Aquamarine Azulino: I am SO thankful I did not receive the white version of this polish. I heard from a friend that hers looked like she painted her nails with white-out! The blue is perfect for springtime (and matches my Kate Spade sheets!) It is however super thick so you must be extremely patient in between coats. Another friend who subscribes received the same color and has had hers on since Saturday without chipping--super plus in my book. I am already a fan of Color Club and this pearly treat will be put to good use this season. (Value $3)
Overall value of April 2014 box ~ $17 (plus 50 points for reviews!) Birchbox's Rewards program is seriously amazing and definitely keeps my subscription.
What variations did you receive in your April box?
